++ 100 colors & 100 days of writing (jennifer robichaux, this is your summer project.)

++ field notes, why are you so beautiful?

++ i'm totally in love with the t.25 car. it's designed to be recycled once it's life is up, and made into another car. it's gets 61 mpg and is smaller than a smart car, but fits 3 adults. smart redesign. i'm also loving the diorama photos.

Bruce Mau's Incomplete Manifesto.

I'm (still) reading Glimmer, and I find Bruce Mau crazy and totally wonderful. His Incomplete Manifesto is full of inspiration "rules" for life/design. I'm going to make these on cards and try to lay out one a day, or at least a few a week.

today, even at work, seemed sort of rushed. my brain was racing and my breathing was shallow. i sit for too long in front of a computer screen.
so tonight after a walk with jen,

i laid on my bed and slowed down. and i thought of these things.
white tile.
ceiling fans.
heartbeats.
the feeling of smooth legs.
shampoo'd hair.
how nice boys smell.
heartbeats.
rain when you are inside.
white kitchen light.
soft nighttime light.
this kind of piano: charlie winston.

today i made two things based on a color palate from photographer ye rin mok. the reasoning behind this is two fold: one, find new and innovative (and possibly not so great) color combinations. two, understand color, why photographs evoke a certain feeing, and how design might do something similar.

i hope to do at least a few of these a week.

i really do believe that only boring people get bored. and inversely, i think i'm becoming boring because of all the boredom that occurs throughout the day. i think i now know that actually, i do need to interact with people. an office/workspace is great. but not for 8 hours. i do not want a 9-5 job my entire life, that i know for sure.

reading glimmer and the wisdom of bruce mau is so interesting, and really reframing my perspective on businesses and consumer goods/services in general. i'm trying to fit together a few different things, like how design can reach a broad amount of people, or how it can affect people... or working alongside the non-profit world.

i'm obsessed with poco-cocoa and abbytrysagain. thankgoodness for austin in two days.

+ continuing my design sketching. top two are from jack kerouac's on the road (of which i am fighting to finish. 20 more pages!). last is from death cab's 'talking bird.' the open door ep version is so pretty and sad.

+ the fonts are new! myfont.com has really nice free fonts. museo, mimix, & coolvetica, in order.

+ noble beast is andrew bird's best, for sure.

+ today was a day of on-a-whim (driving, eating, buying, moving furniture, etc.)

+ coffeeshop count: three.

+ happy easter/passover!
